anecdotes from the weekend...

FRIDAY
: had a nice dinner at souplantation with billie and christine. i recall a "hell, no, bitch!" escaping from billie's mouth as she talked about a coworker.
: read more of "the historian" by elizabeth kostova. it's good so far but i could do with a little less of the travelouge stuff.

SATURDAY
: helped my sister move into her LBC condo.
: an exchange between me and my niece alyson while we waited for our in n' out food...
Alyson: The little kids at my school are annoying. They're aliens.
Ryan: You're an alien.
Alyson: You're mean.
Ryan: You're mean for pointing out I'm mean.
Alyson: I'm telling my dad.
Ryan: Good, tell him.
Alyson: You're a mean uncle.
Ryan: No, you are.
: later that night at michael's bday party, another brilliant conversation between me and one of michael's friends...
Ryan: So what kind of music do you like?
Michael's friend: I like Norweigan heavy metal.
Ryan: Is heavy metal popular in Norwegia?
Michael's friend: You mean... Norway?
Ryan: Yes. (Pause) As you can see, I am highly educated.

SUNDAY
: attended fran's superbowl party. it was fun as always. i won nsync stickers and an action doll who sort of resembles anderson cooper. so of course krissy's rommate michael and i immediately undressed him to see what he looked like naked.

Mary: I got lost while walking the dog. I had no idea where I was... but then I realized I was only two houses away from home. So we ran back inside before I got lost again.
: later in the day, at a moment when no one is talking, lelsey blurts out:
Lesley: If I were a man, I'd be an ice hockey player.
: left fran's house at 7:30. slept in car til 8:30. tried to drive home, realized i couldn't. at 9:30 summoned up enough courage to try driving to ellen's.
