seriously? no.

Catalina Cruisin'

Last Saturday, we went to Catalina for Christine's birthday. We left from Long Beach port and survived treacherous waters on the Catalina Express boat. It was like Titanic without the iceberg and Celine Dion. Billie felt nauseous, but didn't throw up. I fell asleep.

An hour later we arrived on Catalina island. It was kind of like "Lost" but without the attractive cast and smokey the monster. We were enthralled with the native mode of transportation: golf carts. You all know my dark history with golf carts, so this was exciting.

Then we took a scenic tour of Avalon, the city that is like 2 sq. miles. With limited space, I took a seat next to a girl who apparently wasn't happy having to share. Whatever, bitch. Greg fell asleep. The views were pretty and it was a pleasant drive, but kinda boring.

Then we took a glass bottom boat ride. Saw lots of fish in Lover's Cove. It was kinda like the old submarine ride at Disneyland but without the fake fish and submarine. Billie felt nauseous, but didn't throw up. I fell asleep.

We also rented a motor boat. Billie was our captain. She hit nearly every boat in the harbor as we made our way out to sea. Silly drunk! We saw a sea lion. So cute. I think it was playing hide and seek with us. No one felt nauseous and no one fell asleep.

Then we walked around and saw deer or fawn or does. Whatever. Billie bought Buffalo jerky. We had lunch at Armstrongs, which had bland tuna salad, but excellent ranch dressing. We had dinner at some place with bland clam chowder but excellent ahi tacos. Then we bought a candy apple. And then we went home. Fun!

Daytime Emmys '07

Last Friday I went to the Daytime Emmy Awards at the Kodak Theater. The show went by pretty quick, and I had a good time catching up with ex-coworkers from Passions and the network. Afterwards, most people went up to the ballroom for a pretty crappy dinner. My favorite overheard line: Betty White and her husband (?) were headed to the bar and he said, "Come on, Betty, I want to get you loosened up!" I took a pic with Betty later and she was super-sweet. I also chatted with the guy who voices Big Bird and Oscar the Grouch. Maggie (second pic) and I went scouring the ballroom for good photo ops. I also got to hang out with Petros, Fran, Lesley, Rebecca and this guy named Guy, who I used to work with at Passions but had never met in person. After the dinner, I went to the after parties for ABC and NBC. At ABC, I helped Sharon (third pic) stalk the cute men of "General Hospital." Sharon's running line of the night was, "I wouldn't mind that" in reference to every hot actor we came across. Greg met up with me at the NBC party, although we caught just the tail end. I accompanied him to a late night In N' Out run, but I was exhausted. Fun night for a soap fan like me...

Sin City

notes from the vegas trip...

:: the riviera is just an okay hotel, but i like their self-check in system. you just slide your credit card and choose the kind of room you want. the best part? making your own card keys! fun!

:: this hotel worker was super fun and nice. i want to be her friend. i'm sad we didn't get her name... but i've decided her name was cherish. isn't cherish cute?

:: aladdin is now planet hollywood hotel and casino. they put a cheesy sign on the outside, but it's nice inside. a cross between palms, mgm and hard rock. but i'm sad i never got to try the aladdin buffet and the aladdin gay club.

:: greg and i saw mama mia. i thought it was okay, but greg loved it. it did inspire me to work on my madonna musical idea.

:: most exciting part of the weekend? greg winning $1000 on $1 wheel of fortune. i wasn't there, but he took this pic.
:: my new favorite slot is some strange hamburger game. i totally got my jollies off it.

:: on the way back, we hit up primm outlets. greg and i bought a ridiculous amount of stuff for pretty low prices. he got jeans for $8! i bought a cool jacket at guess. greg, keep your hands off! oh... we were walking through the outlet and i was about to say, "hey, someone smells like hollister: when i saw that they added a hollister outlet!!! i was so excited...

:: traffic was good both ways, but i got us lost in rialto on the way back. the 210 freeway was closed off and we drove around forever trying to get back on. greg called this adventure "escape from rialto." i think the city of rialto closes the freeway on purpose so people are forced to spend time in their city. it's like how the mutants in "the hills have eyes" trapped unsuspecting victims.

I Heart SF

I spent the last few days in one of my favorite cities, San Francisco. I really do think that if I had to live anywhere other than Los Angeles, I would want to live there. Random notes:

:: I flew JetBlue for the first time. The leg room is so luxurious. Sure, my legs are short, but it's nice to stretch. However, I didn't get to enjoy DirecTV because on the flight up, a rather portly man placed his arm on my controls located on the armrest and then fell asleep. On the way down, the tvs in my row didn't work. Boo! I was forced to... read for work. But I got a lot done because on the flight back down, the pilot was somehow "left behind" in Long Beach and we had to wait an hour for a substitute pilot. I'm getting a $25 voucher, but... me wants more. Oh, and the snacks were good.

:: thursday quotes -- "she's fun!" "where's mulu?" "we are no longer a hostel" "do you think if we keep pulling that hair we'll find a dead body?"

:: I had dinner with Michael at Fuzio's. Apparently I got Billie's favorite dish -- angel hair pasta. It was yummy. Also yummy: the poundcake with strawberries and almond glaze. Even yummier: the hot manager.

:: So Badlands is officially BadSmellLands. Smelly gays everywhere, all the time. How can this be the hot spot in Castro?

:: Mel's Diner has odd-tasting condiments. Try not to order anything with ranch or mayonaise. And don't disturb Mulu.

:: Paigie has a nice office. It's new and shiny. Lots of white binders... and white people. Asian people, too. There's a cute gay receptionist. And a cute gay co-worker. What's not to like?

:: Paigie, Susan and I saw "Waitress" with my favs Keri Russell and Nathan Fillion. It's cute. Made me want to eat pie.

:: I had a really good breakfast at Eric's place... even without Eric. Paigie made waffles, Italian sausage, scrambled eggs, hashbrowns and strawberries. Yay!

:: Went to Paigie's work picnic. It was nice except I froze my ass off. On the plus side, Raul the Balloon Man made amazing balloon art. However, the magician was lame (and you know how I love magic). I only clapped for the sole purpose of warming my hands. I clapped with disdain.

:: Went to the Union Street Fair. The mean Mentos girl ignored us, so we had to go to another girl to give us free goodies.

:: Back home now. I want to sleep. BTW, I have no pictures to accompany this blog. That's what I get for not going with Haeran.
