Palm Springs
Last Friday, Neil and I took a day trip to Palm Springs. We were gonna stay the night at a clothing optional gay hotel (!) but everything in Palm Springs and the surrounding areas were booked for the Coachella music festival that weekend. So we shopped at the Cabazon outlets (I was good and only bought one shirt) and played slots at Morongo. Neil won 5 whole dollars on Slingo and I lost $21 on Wheel of Fortune (in about 1 minute).
Then we went to see the dinosaurs, which David Agriam tells us was intended to be an amusement park but was never completed. Neil is particularly fond of dinosaurs so I think he really got a kick out of them.
They we hit up some stores and the bars in Palm Springs. The best was a gay lounge that played a montage of musical numbers. I'm sad I didn't get to see any Moulin Rouge clips, but it was a lot of fun anyway.
Went to dinner at place called Dinks where some woman sang Cher, Celine Dion and Gloria Estefan songs. Umm... yeah. The food was just okay. As the Lonely Planet book pointed out, Palm Springs is just not known for its food.
